Ford Kuga 2018 Price In India

Ford is on its way to expand its product portfolio in India and the next car in line is the Ford Kuga. The compact SUV will sit above the Ford EcoSport and will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. This will be Ford’s second offering in the compact SUV segment and the third in its line-up.

The Ford Kuga will be positioned above the Ford EcoSport and will be a Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta rival. It gets the signature Ford fascia with the prominent hexagonal chrome grille and swept back headlamps. The bumper gets a mesh air-dam with the fog lamps also getting mesh surrounds. The side profile is almost similar in form, but the length shows thanks to the chunky bonnet and the quarter glass pane after the C-pillar. The flared wheel arches give it muscle while the sloping roofline adds sportiness. The tail is also decked up with a short rear glass, a busy tailgate and a muscular bumper.

The dark interior looks premium and the kinetic design language is seen in the dashboard layout. The centre console gets a display screen for infotainment which is replete with phone connectivity and GPS navigation and also comes enabled with SYNC. The European car gets two-zone climate control along with push-button start and a 12V socket. The binnacle of the instrument cluster reads speed and revs and has a multi-information display that gives out all the necessary information.

As for the engines, the Kuga is offered internationally with a 2.0-litre diesel engine and a series of EcoBoost engines and also gets a four-wheel-drive option. In India though, it might get the 1.5-litre diesel engine that we have in the EcoSport but with a higher power output and mated to a manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre petrol with both the five-speed manual and the automatic gearbox might be available.

The Kuga is expected to be built in India and should be launched in the first half of 2017 and will compete with the Hyundai Creta, the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano amongst compact SUVs.

Ford Kuga India – Exterior Design

In terms of exterior dimensions, the Kuga is bigger than the Ford EcoSport but smaller than the Endeavour. It features Ford’s signature grille design flanked by sleek headlamps on either side. The headlamp unit features a projector setup along with LED daytime running lights. Towards the lower end of the bumper, there is a wide air dam with the fog lamp housings on either side of it. They also house the turn indicators. The window line rises ever so slightly and is complemented well by a strong shoulder line. At the back, there are split wrap-around tail lamps and twin tailpipes. Overall, the Ford Kuga has the appearance of a grown-up Ford EcoSport.

Ford Kuga India – Interior Design

Like most Fords, the insides of the Kuga aka Escape are sporty as well. The steering wheel design is similar to what we have just seen on the new EcoSport. In fact, the EcoSport has borrowed it from the Kuga and not the other way around. There are hooded instrument dials with the fuel gauge and a colour MID placed in the middle. The centre console features vertical AC vents flanking the touchscreen AVN. It features split side passenger AC vents. The Ford Kuga offers to seat for 5 along with generous luggage space.
